“US C-17 Military Aircraft to Arrive in Amritsar This Afternoon with 205 Deported Indian Migrants”

A US C-17 military aircraft, originally scheduled to land in Amritsar on Wednesday morning, has been delayed and is now expected to arrive at Shri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport later in the afternoon. The plane is carrying 205 Indian migrants, reportedly from Punjab and neighboring states, who were deported after being found living in the US illegally.

While neither the US nor Indian governments have provided details about the individuals on board, reports indicate that the C-17 Globemaster took off from San Antonio, Texas. The deportations follow an intensified crackdown on illegal immigration under the administration of US President Donald Trump.

Many of those being deported are from Punjab, having entered the US through illegal routes or overstayed their visas. Punjab’s NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal expressed disappointment over the deportations, suggesting that these individuals, who contributed to the US economy, should have been granted permanent residency. Dhaliwal also emphasized the importance of legal immigration, urging Punjabis to pursue education and skills development before seeking opportunities abroad.”
