Interview Times had a great conversation with Vipinkumar Singh, the owner of World Trail food outlet, and got to know more about the journey of the restaurant, the setbacks faced and the ways he managed to tackle the impediments. This is how the interview went.

How did the World trail start, the story behind it, and the journey so far? How did you get the concept of this?
When we were at IMT Ghaziabad for a training program, we had long walked in the campus, and we discussed how we did not have Indian brands in the QSR space. Over a few years, we kept our discussions alive and finally decided to start our own QSR chain. In our QSR concept, we also wanted to have some Indian food and Pizzas, burgers, and Pasta. Hence we added Biryani also to our product range.

Kindly shed light on your entrepreneurial journey. What were the initial challenges while launching WorldTrail, and how did you counter the same?
As soon as we started our first restaurant, demonetization hit us, and sales were severely hit for the first three months. When we opened our second outlet in Faridabad, there was a fire outbreak which caused massive damage. This, of course, did not deter us and made us stronger and made us realize that we need to mitigate our risks.

What makes World Trail so different? Highlight the innovative differentiating factors involved and services offered.
The biggest USP of World Trail is you can order various meals from one roof, which is why many families prefer to dine out or order in with us. We have many innovative dishes that we offer on both dine and delivery, which helps us get a lot of repeat customers. We make our Pizza and sauce house, which adds to the freshness and taste. All our products are made fresh with the best quality of ingredients.
What is your assessment of the Pizza Points in India? According to you, what are the factors propelling the growth in this segment?
Indians love their pizzas with a lot of toppings and cheese. Pizza is comfort food and very convenient to consume, which is propelling growth in this segment.

Tell us about the current business development and in the future, what are the plans the scale up the business? Tell us about your growth plans?
Ans- We are currently running three restaurants and plan to open ten more restaurants in the next two years. We are looking to expand in Tier2 and Tier3 cities.’
Impact of CO-VID 19 on the Hospitality industry according to you?
Covid had a significant impact on the hospitality industry, but we could mitigate the risk as we had a strong delivery fleet, and Customers have a huge trust in us.

The hospitality industry also rose to the occasion and upped its standards.
New developments amid the pandemic and what kind of change had to be executed in response to it.
We had to retrain our staff to follow the highest hygiene standards. We had to reinforce the customers’ trust in us, and our teams responded brilliantly to this. We also launched a lot of new products during the pandemic to cater to more customers. We launched a new Thin Crust Pizza and several new desserts, which helped us improve our business. All such innovations have led us to get awarded as Top 10 Most Promising Startups by Startuplanes.

What are your Future Plans?
In the short term, we are looking to go for VC funding to open more restaurants. In the next two years, we plan to open restaurants in India and then look at options to open in other countries.
