Visakhapatnam becomes the Capital of Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy declared Vishakapatnam as the state capital during a news conference in Delhi on Tuesday.Kurnool shall be the judicial capital, Amaravati the legislative capital, and Vishakapatnam the executive capital,” he stated. He has planned to relocate the CMO and other offices to Vishakapatnam.
The parliamentary complex will be located in the Guntur district of Velagapudi. All HODs’ offices will now be in Amaravati, and the executive capital will house the chief minister’s office.


The AP High Court’s major site, Nelapadu in the Guntur district, will be transferred to Kurnool, the future judicial capital.The state government was ordered by the High Court to build Amaravati, the state capital.
On March 3, 2022, the High Court ordered the state government to develop Amaravati and the surrounding region within six months, citing a lack of “legislative competence” by the government to restrict or modify it as the capital city of Andhra Pradesh’s three civil society wings—the legislature, executive, and judiciary.
