For its innovative Water Quality Data Acquisition & Monitoring System, the Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO), a division of the Housing & Urban Development Department of the Government of Odisha, has been recognized with the esteemed “Technology Sabha Award 2025” in the Enterprise Application category. The national-level e-governance award, which was given out during the Technology Sabha meeting in Hyderabad from February 21 to 23, 2025, honors achievement in using technology to offer public services.
The Water Quality Data Acquisition & Monitoring System is an online integrated workflow-oriented platform that integrates Government-to-Government (G2G) and Government-to-Citizen (G2C) services with real-time systems. It was developed in technical collaboration with NIC, Odisha State Centre, Bhubaneswar. With the use of web-enabled and mobile app-driven technology, it seeks to offer an all-inclusive solution for the collecting, testing, and data surveillance monitoring of water quality samples throughout Odisha’s cities.
The system facilitates:
- Real-time Quality Surveillance ensuring safe water supply to every household.
- Efficient Incidence Management for quick problem resolution.
- Enhanced Consumer Complaint Redressal for improved customer satisfaction.
It was handed to Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, by Gurucharan Das, MD, WATCO, and senior personnel from the company. Special Secretary Debasis Singh attended the presentation as well. “This accomplishment is a testament to Odisha’s commitment to leveraging digital governance for improved public service delivery,” Padhee said, congratulating the MD WATCO and his team. An important step toward guaranteeing water safety and raising public satisfaction in metropolitan areas is the Water Quality Data Acquisition & Monitoring System.
