A visionary dental surgeon and implantologist, Dr. Kar is not only transforming smiles but also reshaping how dentistry is practiced in Odisha. As the Founder of 3S Sai Shradha Smile Dental Care, he has built more than just a clinic; he has created a hub of innovation, compassion, and excellence that has touched the lives of over 50,000 patients.
Born in Rourkela and raised in Bargarh, Dr. Kar grew up inspired by his father, a respected medical professional, whose dedication to healthcare instilled in him both compassion and purpose. Choosing dentistry as his path, he graduated in 2006 from the Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation, one of India’s premier dental institutions. Determined to push the boundaries of knowledge, he pursued post-graduation at Shree Balajee Dental College, Chennai, completing it in 2008, and later earned a coveted Fellowship from the International Congress of Oral Implantology (USA). His academic journey did not end in classrooms. For several years, he served as a professor at Hi-Tech Dental College, shaping the next generation of dental surgeons with a blend of theory and clinical expertise. This dual role — educator and practitioner — gave him the clarity and confidence to eventually step into entrepreneurship.
In 2013, driven by the vision of offering world-class, patient-centered dentistry, Dr. Kar founded 3S Sai Shradha Smile Dental Care in Bhubaneswar. Today, the clinic has grown into one of Odisha’s most advanced dental facilities, featuring five fully equipped clinical rooms, cutting-edge laser technology, AI-assisted implant systems, and stringent hygiene protocols that earned it ISO certification. From general and preventive dentistry to smile design, orthodontics, implants, prosthetics, and laser procedures, the clinic offers a holistic spectrum of care. Over the past decade, it has treated more than 50,000 patients, many of whom testify to the clinic’s warm, transparent, and affordable approach to treatment. Dr. Kar emphasizes that “dentistry isn’t expensive, neglect is.” His mission is to make dental care affordable, anxiety-free, and technologically advanced. Every patient is guided through treatment with detailed explanations, ensuring not just better smiles but also trust and confidence.
Such dedication has not gone unnoticed. Over the years, Dr. Kar has received more than 17 national awards, affirming his leadership in dentistry and healthcare innovation. Among the most notable are the Odisha Business Icon Award (2022), Odisha Achievers Award (2023), Asia Pacific Excellence Award for Research in Implantology, Best Implantology Award, Times Health Icon Award, Young Achiever Award, and the Corona Warrior Award (2020) for his extraordinary service during the pandemic. These recognitions underscore not only his clinical mastery but also his entrepreneurial spirit, research contributions, and social commitment.
For Dr. Kar, dentistry has always been about more than teeth — it is about transforming lives. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he personally provided ambulance services, medicines, and free treatments to those in need, for which he was recognized as a Corona Warrior. His humanitarian reach continues through free dental camps in rural villages, old-age homes, and orphanages, ensuring that marginalized communities also benefit from modern dental care. As an active member of organizations such as the Lions Club and Junior Chamber International (JCI), he supports causes ranging from tribal education to youth empowerment. His clinic offers concessions to BPL families and special-needs children, ensuring finances never block access to care.
Equally inspiring is his role as a mentor. Over the years, Dr. Kar has trained and guided more than 50 young dental surgeons, empowering them to set up successful practices and carry forward his vision of accessible, ethical dentistry. Innovation remains central to his philosophy. He is spearheading the “Make in Odisha – 3S Implants” initiative, in collaboration with SOA University, to develop internationally certified titanium dental implants manufactured locally. This project aims to reduce reliance on costly imports while making implants more affordable for patients across India. Looking ahead, he envisions establishing a world-class dental hospital in Bhubaneswar, one that will not only serve local patients but also position Odisha as a hub for Tourism Dentistry. With a focus on digital dentistry, AI integration, and dynamic navigation systems, Dr. Kar’s dream is to make Odisha a recognized leader in dental innovation and education on the global map.
While his professional achievements are many, Dr. Kar is quick to credit his family for their unwavering support, especially his wife, Dr. Preeti Y. Shadangi, Assistant Professor in Hospital Administration at SOA University. He calls her the “pillar of his success,” acknowledging her role in balancing his demanding professional journey. Philosophical yet pragmatic, Dr. Kar often says: “Challenges are inevitable, but you are your only competition.” To him, every smile restored is not just a clinical outcome but a “masterpiece of dedication, innovation, and compassion.”
