Born and raised in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Sachin Agarwal’s journey of excellence began with his pursuit of higher education in the United States. He earned a Master’s in Business Administration in Operations from the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and an M.Sc. in Finance from Boston College, Massachusetts. Armed with world-class education and an entrepreneurial spirit, he returned to India in 1998, determined to make a lasting impact.
Upon his return, he joined PTC Industries as Director of Corporate Planning, marking the beginning of a transformative era for the company. Alongside, he co-founded e.Soft Technologies Limited, a software company with a presence in Lucknow, Mumbai, and New York, further demonstrating his versatility as an entrepreneur. His early work at PTC involved the development of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, streamlining operations and setting the stage for future growth.
Sachin Agarwal’s tenure as Managing Director began in 2006 when he took the helm at the young age of 34. His leadership ushered in an era of technological advancements and unprecedented growth for PTC Industries. Under his guidance, PTC pioneered the adoption of advanced manufacturing processes, including Replicast® Technology, making it the only foundry in India to successfully indigenize this cutting-edge process.
His relentless pursuit of innovation led to the development of proprietary technologies like forgeCAST™, RapidCast™, and PowderForge, enabling PTC to manufacture high-precision metal components that were previously imported or unavailable domestically. These advancements positioned India as a key player in the global aerospace and defence manufacturing industry.
Sachin’s contributions to the industry have not gone unnoticed. His efforts in research and development earned PTC the prestigious “National Award for R&D Efforts in Industry” from the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. His pioneering work was recognized in the publication Small Big Bang by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), highlighting his leadership and impact on the industry.
His achievements have also been acknowledged by international forums. PTC received the Total Cost Leadership Award from Rolls-Royce Marine, and in 2017, he was honored with the Special Jury Award at the TIME India Awards. Under his leadership, PTC was recognized as the most innovative manufacturing company in the medium segment at the CII Industrial Innovation Awards 2018 and was bestowed with the Raksha Mantri Award for Excellence in 2022.
Beyond his corporate success, Sachin Agarwal has been a significant force in shaping the defence manufacturing landscape in India. As Chairman of the Society for Indian Defence Manufacturers in Uttar Pradesh, he has played a crucial role in aligning industry and government initiatives to foster a robust ecosystem for indigenous defence production. His tenure as Chairman of the CII Northern Region MSME Committee further cemented his influence in policy advocacy and industrial growth.
Committed to the welfare of his employees, Sachin has instituted various initiatives aimed at improving their quality of life. He has established education and medical funds to support his workforce, ensuring their well-being while fostering a culture of safety and inclusivity within PTC.
