According to authorities, all of the suspects were questioned before being freed and a case was filed against them.The winner of Bigg Boss 17 Munawar Faruqui and 13 other people were arrested following a raid at a hookah bar in Mumbai’s Fort area, a police official said on Wednesday. The official further added that all of the accused were eventually freed because the charges brought against them were subject to bail.
According to him, the operation was conducted after authorities were tipped off that some customers were passing off tobacco-based hookahs at the parlour as herbal hookahs.Faruqui and his accomplice have been charged under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 283 (risk or obstruction in public way or line of navigation) and 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), as well as the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA).
Those detained by the Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Marg police received notices and were thereafter released.
