Winter Chills Intensify Across Odisha

As winter approaches, minimum temperatures, or nighttime temperatures, are rapidly dropping throughout Odisha. The winter chill was made worse by minimum temperatures below 10°C in several parts of the state during the past 24 hours. The dry winds coming from the north-northwest have been blamed for the abrupt drop in temperature.

The lowest minimum temperature of 7.2°C was recorded in Odisha during the past 24 hours in G. Udaygiri in Khandamal district, according to the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The temperature also dropped significantly in a number of other locations. In the same way, Daringbadi recorded 9.5°C while Kirei and Keonjhar in the Sundargarh district recorded 9.4°C. Phulbani (10°C), Angul (10.6°C), Sundargarh town (11°C), and Koraput (11.2°C) all experienced winter chills.

In the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, the lowest temperature was 14.5°C and 14.6°C, respectively. In several locations in Odisha, there was also shallow to dense fog, which significantly reduced visibility. The weather office has stated that there won’t be any changes to the forecast for the upcoming week.
