Works Minister Reviews Infra Projects Valued Above Rs 100 Cr, Emphasizes Timely Completion

A high-level review meeting convened by Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Tuesday evaluated the status of construction, bridge, and road projects under the Works Department that totaled more than ₹100 crore. The government’s dedication to improving state infrastructure was emphasized during the conference, which took place in the Lok Seva Bhawan Convention Hall. Minister Harichandan reiterated in an official press statement that project quality compromises and delays would not be accepted.

He directed departmental officers, chief engineers, superintending engineers, and executive officers to do monthly progress evaluations, emphasizing strict surveillance. While agencies and contractors must effectively utilize their workforce and technological resources to fulfill deadlines, officials will aggressively resolve issues that contractors confront in order to speed up operations. The Minister warned that harsh government action will be taken in response to any complaints about delays or poor quality work. He added that a major factor in determining future contract awards will be prior performance.

Major ongoing projects were reviewed, including the construction of the Jajpur, Jaipur, and Jagatsinghpur bypass highways; the improvement of the infrastructure at the Capital, Jajpur, Jeypore, and Koraput hospitals; and other building projects. The minister also wanted to know how high-level bridge projects over the state’s rivers were progressing. Along with other top departmental authorities and representatives from contracting agencies, the meeting was attended by OBCC Managing Director Samir Hota, Works Department Secretary V.V. Yadav, EIC (Civil) Purnachandra Mahapatra, and Special Secretary of the Works Department L.K. Padhi.

The administration wants to expedite infrastructure development and guarantee the high-quality completion of important projects throughout Odisha, with a particular emphasis on accountability and efficiency.
