The World Bank reduced India’s GDP prediction for the current fiscal year to 6.5%, citing the deteriorating global environment. It had predicted that the Indian economy will expand at a 7.5% annual rate in June 2022. The World Bank had already decreased its estimate of India’s GDP from 8.7% to 8% in April. However, it also pointed out that India’s economic recovery is proceeding more quickly than that of the rest of the globe.
Days before its annual meeting, the prognosis was made. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has reduced its estimate of economic growth for the years 2022 to 2023 from 7.2% to 7%, citing the US Federal Reserve’s tightening of interest rates and the current geopolitical environment.
The World Bank has now updated its estimate of India’s GDP growth for FY23 three times. It had reduced its prediction to 7.5% in June. It had reduced the projection from 8.7% to 8% earlier in April. Recent protracted geopolitical tensions and aggressive global monetary policy tightening caused the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to lower its economic growth outlook for the current fiscal year from 7.2% to 7%.
