On September 16 and 17, 2022, the School of Human Settlements at XIM University (New Campus), Odisha, successfully organised its annual urban conclave. “Innovating Sustainable Urbanization” served as the summit’s subject. Fr. S Antony Raj S.J., Registrar, XIM University, Odisha, gave a speech after Dr. Kajri Mishra, Dean, School of Human Settlements, welcomed everyone and set the event’s goals.
The speakers and moderators were Ms. Devkanya Chakravarthy, Economist/Manager at PWC, Mr. Biswajit Mondal, Managing Consultant at PWC, Mr. Anuj Dhole, Associate Researcher at The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT), Ms. Anusha Saxena, Manager at Dasra, Mr. Aviral Dubey, Project Coordinator at Praja Foundation, Ms. Minoti Rawat, Assitant Manager at SaveLIFE Foundation, Ms. Gaytree Oak, Associate Director, CRISIL, Dr. Tathagata Chatterji, Professor, School of Human Settlements, XIM University, Dr. Jublee Mazumdar, Assistant Professor, School of Human Settlements, XIM University, Mr. Annam Sai Kiran, Lecturer, School of Human Settlements, XIM University, Dr. Arpan Paul, Assistant Professor, School of Human Settlements, XIM University.
Eminent business leaders and thinkers gave energizing lectures and participated in lively debates at the conclave. The idea of cities as economic engines and the challenges of controlling city GDP were discussed by the speakers. The variables that would aid in the agglomeration of the economy were also reviewed by the speakers. Programs and initiatives including the electrification and decarbonization of road transportation were also covered. The socioeconomic effects of regional and urban planning were stressed by the speakers. The speakers also discussed the difficulties associated with the city development plan and how to create a roadmap for effective local governance.
The annual urban conclave sought to improve students’ perspectives and comprehension of sustainable urban development. Discussions about the most important issues and how they may be resolved through technology advancements and innovative approaches were encouraged by the conclave.
Prof. Jublee Mazumdar from the School of Human Settlements at XIM University gave a vote of gratitude to end the session.
