According to information, on February 9, 2017, 40-year-old Harvinder Singh Bittu was fatally shot at his home in the neighbourhood of Meharban’s Harkrishan Vihar. Bittu operated a cable television network. Police believe that Bishnoi hired his gang members to murder him in order to take his business.

Police requested 14 days of the gangster’s detention on Thursday, but the judge only allowed 13 days for questioning. The police testified in court that they believed Bishnoi was involved in the murder case, therefore they had to arrest the other defendants and seize the crime scene’s weapons.

The police increased security in the court complex before bringing Bishnoi before the judge because his rival Davinder Bambiha gang had vowed to kill Bishnoi.Bittu was shot dead by unidentified intruders, and his body was later discovered with three gunshot wounds—one to the skull and two to the chest.

On the scene, there was no evidence of looting or conflict. The victim was twice married and formerly single.Santosh, his first wife, used to deliver food to him because she lived nearby. Her son Ramandeep had arrived to serve his father breakfast on February 9, 2017. Ramandeep had set the food on the table and left while the front door was still open. After some time, Santosh returned to get the utensils and saw that the food had not been touched. She hurried to the room to find out what was going on and saw her husband’s body on the bed.

According to sources, the Ludhiana police also intended to obtain a production warrant from Tihar jail for gangster Kanwar Randeep Singh, alias SK Kharoud, a close associate of Bishnoi, for his suspected involvement in providing firearms for the murder of Sidhu Moosewala.
