An anonymous criminal is accused of raping a 60-year-old homeless lady in the city’s cantonment region two days ago. Locals learned about the occurrence from the victim and informed authorities about it. According to DCP Pinak Mishra, a team made up of an ACP and two inspectors from the Cantonment police station and Mahila police were dispatched to the scene to conduct an investigation.
“We have located the spot and identified the women. The medical tests have been conducted and a case is registered in this connection,” said Mishra. He added that the case is being treated with top priority. The CCTV cameras footages of the area are being scanned to identify the accused. A thorough probe has been launched, Mishra said. The matter was reported to police by a locals led by A Sridevi, Corporator, Ward No. 17 of Cuttack Municipal Corporation.
