Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, the minister of health and family welfare, stated on Tuesday that the Odisha government has plans to establish nine additional medical institutions around the state. Four of the nine institutions will be medical and dentistry schools, while one will be an ayurvedic center.
“We have decided to establish four MBBS colleges in Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, and Nabarangpur districts; four dental colleges in Burla, Berhampur, Bolangir, and Keonjhar; and an Ayurvedic college in Mayurbhanj district,” said Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling to reporters.
He further mentioned that starting with the current academic year, two new medical institutions with 100 MBBS seats each will open in Phulbani (Kandhamal district) and Talcher (Angul district). Mahaling said the additional institutions will assist satisfy Odisha’s increasing need for physicians and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for sanctioning the projects.
