The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the emergence of a cyclone over the Bay of Bengal (BoB). Dr. Habibur Rahaman, chief of meteorology at IMD, announced today that there is agreement on the creation of a low-pressure system and its strengthening into a cyclone by May 9.https://mausam.imd.gov.in/bhubaneswar/
Dr. Biswas claims that summer is the time of year when cyclones and depressions occur most frequently. According to the most recent observations, the Southeast Bay of Bengal is expected to experience cyclonic circulation around May 6, 2023Bay of Bengal is expected to experience cyclonic circulation around May 6, 2023, according to the most recent observations.
Around May 7, a low-pressure area is likely to develop over the same area under its influence. On May 8, 2023, it is most likely to coalesce into a depression over the Southeast Bay of Bengal.
“Thereafter, it is feasible for it to intensify as it moves almost northward into the center of the Bay of Bengal. It may become a cyclonic storm around May 9,” warned IMD Head.
Biswas predicts that it would first proceed almost northward towards the Central Bay of Bengal. We did not specify the direction, force, or zone over the land where it is expected to strike. We will provide specific forecasts about the low pressure’s formation, landfall, and strength. There is currently no such forecast for landfall over the Indian coast.
Fishing in the southeast Bay of Bengal should be avoided at first due to the squally weather. According to Mohapatra, no similar alarm has been sent to the east coast, and the fishing community has merely received a warning.
“Despite the potential for a cyclone, no rainfall or wind warnings have been issued for Odisha. We are keeping a careful eye on the developments. We won’t have a complete forecast concerning intensity and course until the low-pressure region forms,”
