India is getting ready to host the men’s World Cup for the fourth time in history as the Cricket World Cup is about to begin in the coming week. Whether India wins the World Cup or not, the Indian economy is unquestionably going to benefit from hosting the World Cup, according to a BQ Prime report. India’s economy is anticipated to grow and will be $1.64 billion wealthier following the World Cup.

When the World Cup begins, it means that thousands of fans from around the globe will travel to India, purchase World Cup tickets, stay in hotels, eat at restaurants and roadside stalls, order food to be delivered to their homes while watching matches, buy souvenirs, memorabilia, and other goods, visit local landmarks and tourist attractions, and do a lot more.The cost of all of this will be higher due to the basic economic principle of demand and supply combined with the capitalistic gains the various companies will want to have, which will undoubtedly inject a significant amount of money into the Indian economy.

According to the BQ Prime research, the total economic impact of such direct and indirect spending during the tournament would be at least $1.6 billion.Spending on airfare, lodging, stadium tickets, food and drink, as well as local and foreign travel, all have a direct financial impact. This also includes the money spent by the BCCI on infrastructure upgrades and stadium repairs.For a single fan, the total cost of the aforementioned categories is considered the direct cost each game, and this number varies from city to city.
