Government of Odisha To Establish Research Grant With Rs. 10 Cr. Corpus Fund For Odia Language

A research grant worth Rs 10 crore has been announced by the State government for both domestic and foreign study in Odia. The Odia University in Satyabadi, in the Puri area, will house the gift. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made this decision in accordance with the recommendations made at the World Odia Language Conference. Aswini Patra, the minister of culture, made the announcement at today’s State Assembly. The Chief Minister’s 5T program will address a plethora of other recommendations in an open and timely way.

In accordance with the resolution, a yearly International Digital Odia conference will be held to bring together specialists to advance the Odia language online. A group of experts will be established to standardize the keyboard and font script. This Committee will operate within a set timeline and provide recommendations for action. In 1500 high schools at first, the government will assign only Odia teachers; eventually, in a time-bound manner, it will cover all high schools. A committee to revise the syllabus for Odia instruction in schools will be established, and it will provide recommendations for syllabus updates on a regular basis.

All educational institutions that have been in operation for more than a century will receive a Heritage grant of Rs. 1 Cr, payable in two stages, while universities founded prior to independence would receive a grant of Rs. 2 Cr. Similarly, pre-independence universities will receive a grant of Rs 2 crores. The goal of this is to preserve and advance our educational legacy in Odia.
