Born with an innate business acumen, Sankar Prasad Jain embarked on his entrepreneurial journey in August 5th, 1996. His entry into the rice milling industry was driven by a vision to support local farmers and ensure quality food production. Recognizing the potential of essential industries, he gradually expanded into stone crushing, brick manufacturing, petrol retail, and agriculture. His businesses are deeply rooted in necessity-driven sectors that fuel economic growth and community development. “I come from a place where opportunities don’t come knocking—you have to create them,” Jain reflects. “When I started with rice milling, it wasn’t just about making money. It was about securing a future for my family and building something that would last.”
Over the years, Jain has meticulously built a diversified business portfolio that not only strengthens Odisha’s economy but also enhances its infrastructure. He holds key leadership positions across various industries, serving as the Managing Director of Anant Paddy Products Pvt Ltd, Snapp Paddy Processing Pvt Ltd, Shrishti Infraventure Pvt Ltd, and Jwalaji Buildcon Pvt Ltd. He is also the Managing Partner of Vardhaman Food Products and a recognized Super Class Contractor. His ventures span agriculture, construction, and infrastructure, forming an interconnected ecosystem that drives growth and innovation. His rice mills have become a cornerstone of the agricultural supply chain, ensuring fair prices for farmers while delivering premium rice to the market. His ventures in stone crushing and brick manufacturing cater to the ever-growing demands of the construction sector, playing a pivotal role in the state’s rapid urbanization. His fuel retail business ensures uninterrupted transportation and agricultural operations, while his investments in fruit orchards and floriculture signify his deep-rooted passion for sustainable farming and environmental conservation.
Jain’s ability to spot market opportunities well in advance has been a key factor in his success. He attributes his decision-making to careful observation of infrastructure developments, policy changes, and long-term market sustainability. “For me, business is not about what’s trending today. It’s about what will remain relevant 10 or 20 years from now,” he explains. “Construction booms led me to invest in stone crushing and bricks, while fuel stations became a necessity in rural areas. Now, I’m exploring modern farming techniques to align with evolving agricultural needs.”
Every entrepreneur faces hurdles, and Jain is no exception. Economic downturns, cash flow constraints, and delayed payments have tested his perseverance. However, his philosophy has always been to expand in adversity rather than contract in fear. “There were moments when cutting back seemed like the only option,” Jain recalls. “But I chose to take risks, to expand, and that decision paid off. Managing cash flow smartly and structuring payment terms helped me sustain through difficult times.”
Recognizing the role of technology and automation in modern business operations, Jain has embraced innovation to enhance efficiency and productivity. From implementing advanced rice milling techniques to digitizing financial transactions and inventory management, he is particularly optimistic about leveraging agri-tech solutions to revolutionize farming practices in Odisha.
Beyond business, he is deeply invested in social and spiritual endeavors. His affiliations include serving as a patron member and national trustee of the Terapanth Professional Forum. He has held key positions as the ex-vice president of the East Zone 2 Terapanth Swetambar Jain Sabha Belpada, founder and managing trustee of Aastha Public School and Aastha Charitable Trust, and the first president of Gurukul Saptarishi Seva Aashram Dhumabhata. He is also the managing trustee of Golok Mahateerth (Gau Seva) and the president of the Governing Body of P.S. Degree College, Belpada. His philanthropic initiatives, particularly in education and rural development, reflect his commitment to societal progress.
Jain envisions a future where Odisha emerges as a hub for modern agriculture and industrial innovation. He advocates for better infrastructure, irrigation facilities, and real-time market intelligence to empower farmers and entrepreneurs alike. “If the government facilitates ease of doing business and supports agro-processing industries, Odisha can witness tremendous economic growth,” he states.
