US President Donald Trump vowed to use “overwhelming lethal force” against threats to national security. Announcing the operation on Truth Social, he warned Iran to cut ties with the Houthis, calling their actions a campaign of “piracy, violence, and terrorism.”
The US Central Command shared images of fighter jets launching from an aircraft carrier and a bomb striking a Houthi compound, confirming precision strikes against Iran-backed militants.
Trump accused the Houthis of disrupting shipping in the Red Sea and criticized former President Joe Biden for failing to act.
In response, the Houthis declared the strikes “will not pass without response,” with their Al-Masirah TV station stating that Yemeni forces are ready to escalate the conflict.
