Bhubaneswar: In a strategic move to bolster Odisha’s information technology sector, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has extended an invitation to HCL Technologies to set up operations in the state. The invitation includes proposals for establishing both a campus and a university in Bhubaneswar, aiming to position Odisha as a burgeoning hub for technological innovation and education.
The announcement was made during the Investors’ Meet in New Delhi, where CM Majhi addressed industry leaders and potential investors. Prior to the meet, he visited HCL Tech’s Noida campus, engaging in discussions with the company’s officials. Expressing optimism about the potential collaboration, Majhi stated, “After the interaction with the officials, I am assured that HCL Tech will soon be coming to Odisha.”
The proposed HCL Tech campus in Bhubaneswar is anticipated to serve as a center for research, innovation, and digital learning. The accompanying university aims to offer specialized courses in emerging technologies, thereby nurturing local talent and attracting students nationwide. This initiative aligns with Odisha’s broader strategy to diversify its economy beyond mining and heavy industries, with a strong emphasis on technology, innovation, and skill development.
In addition to the discussions with HCL Technologies, the first day of the Investors’ Meet yielded significant investment proposals for Odisha. The state secured commitments totaling over ₹30,000 crore from various companies, with the potential to generate approximately 48,390 jobs. These proposals span multiple sectors, reflecting the state’s growing appeal as a favorable investment destination.
CM Majhi’s proactive engagement with industry leaders underscores Odisha’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for business and innovation. The potential entry of HCL Technologies is expected to catalyze further interest from other industry leaders, contributing significantly to the state’s economic growth and development.
