In order to improve operational dependability throughout the state’s transmission network and increase grid management skills, Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) opened a cutting-edge Power System Simulation Laboratory at its Power Training Centre (PTC) in Chandaka. In front of OPTCL Chairman and Managing Director Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma and other high-ranking officials, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo officially opened the facility.
The lab, which was created as a cutting-edge technological hub, is furnished with contemporary simulation tools that will allow engineers to model intricate grid scenarios, perform load flow analysis, evaluate system stability, and simulate fault circumstances in real time. According to officials, the project would greatly increase OPTCL’s ability to design power systems while guaranteeing a more robust and effective transmission network to satisfy Odisha’s expanding energy needs and enable the integration of renewable energy sources.
Singh Deo emphasized the need of a strong transmission system in promoting economic growth during his speech at the opening. According to him, the new facility will support the state’s goal of a developed Odisha by assisting engineers in anticipating operational difficulties, optimizing grid performance, and guaranteeing a steady supply of high-quality power to families, businesses, and agriculture.
According to Sarma, the lab will serve as a center of excellence for power system studies training, research, and innovation. According to him, it will provide OPTCL and State Load Despatch Center (SLDC) engineers with practical learning opportunities, facilitate data-driven decision-making, and improve readiness to manage grid emergencies.
