As the Chief Guest at the Institute of Cost Accountants of India’s (ICMAI) National Students’ Convocation-2025, President Droupadi Murmu recently visited Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. She emphasized how important cost accountants are to India’s economic development and its transition to a sustainable future. The president also acknowledged the important role that ICMAI has played in regulating and advancing the field of cost and management accounting in the nation since its founding in 1944. According to her, CMAs are contributing significantly to India’s economic transformation, moving from being passive observers to actively influencing the country’s industrial development.
In addition to expressing confidence that their education from ICMAI would prepare them to be successful professionals and nation-builders who contribute to the Prime Minister of India’s vision of Viksit Bharat – 2047, she urged the graduating CMA students to recognize their broad responsibilities beyond financial accounting. She presented the top four All India Rank Holders—CMA Intermediate and Final Qualified students from the June and December 2024 term exams of ICMAI—with their awards during the event. As a distinguished guest, IAS Deepti Gaur Mukerjee, Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, urged CMAs to embrace technology, innovation, and agility, emphasizing their critical role in India’s transformation into a $30 trillion economy.
CMA Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak, President of ICMAI, CMA TCA Srinivasa Prasad, Vice President of ICMAI, CMA M.K. Anand, Convener, National Students’ Convocation – 2025, CMA Vinayaranjan P, Chairman, National Students’ Convocation – 2025 and other council members of ICMAI also addressed and congratulated the students in the prestigious event. In total 247 meritorious CMA Intermediate and Final Qualified Students (CMA Intermediate and Final rank holders of June and December, 2024 term) have been awarded on the occasion, out of which 06 Nos Rank holders Students were belongs to Odisha. They were Sunita Dhal (AIR- 7), Ashim Kumar Dhal (AIR- 36), Shreekant Kumar Rout (AIR-40) from June, 2024 term Final and Sawan Kumar Agarwal (AIR-16), Liza Panigrahi (AIR-28) from Intermediate and Vedanta Sharma (AIR-26) from Final in December, 2024 term.
Following the first session, the National Awards for Excellence in Cost Management–2024 and the CMA Awards–2024 were presented. CMA Sadanand Date, IPS, Director General, National Investigation Agency (NIA), and Bhartruhari Mahtab, Hon. Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Finance, GoI, attended the occasion. CMA ICMAI President Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak emphasized the rising importance of cost management in contemporary businesses, emphasizing its vital role in promoting sustainability and generating long-term value.
