Bhubaneswar: In a move to streamline accommodation arrangements for travellers and government officials, the Public Works Department (PWD) on Wednesday rolled out an online booking system for its Inspection Bungalows (IBs) located across major urban centres and tourist destinations in Odisha. The e-IB portal was formally launched by Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, enabling digital reservations for PWD Inspection Bungalows in Bhubaneswar, Puri and Konark.
The initiative replaces the earlier manual booking process with a fully digitised system, making reservations more accessible, efficient and user-friendly for both officials and the general public. The e-IB platform allows online booking and cancellation, provides centralised access to booking information, supports remote usage from anywhere, and enables real-time tracking of room availability, booking status and allotments.
Officials said the new system will ensure greater transparency and accountability compared to the traditional method. “The portal will help eliminate delays in the booking process and significantly improve service delivery by making it simpler, faster and more convenient for users,” the department noted. The online facility is expected to ease accommodation constraints for tourists, pilgrims and officials visiting high-footfall destinations, while also strengthening administrative oversight. The initiative is in line with the state government’s broader push towards digitisation of public services in Odisha.
On the occasion, the minister also launched the Contractor Database Management System (CDMS) 3.0, developed by the Works Department to enhance efficiency, transparency and delivery-oriented contractor management across the state’s infrastructure sector. The upgraded system will maintain a centralised digital repository of contractor-related information, including registration details, licences, certificates and performance records. Equipped with features such as workflow management, analytical dashboards, MIS reports and system integration, CDMS 3.0 aims to modernise and streamline contractor administration statewide
