The aircraft tragedy that killed Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar last month sparked a number of inquiries. One of the people who brought up the sabotage aspect was Rohit Pawar, an NCP (Sharad Pawar) MLA and Ajit’s nephew. Sunetra Pawar has now called for a CBI probe into her husband’s death in the tragedy.
Following Ajit’s passing, Sunetra was appointed deputy chief minister. She met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and key NCP leaders, presenting a letter signed by state president Sunil Tatkare and NCP working president Praful Patel. According to the NCP, the call for a CBI inquiry was made for the greater good of society, justice, and to guarantee an objective, independent, and fair investigation into a highly serious occurrence that claimed many lives.
A private Learjet-45XR plane was flying from Mumbai to Baramati on January 28 when it crashed while making a landing approach close to Baramati airstrip. The pilot, co-pilot, crew member, and personal security guard perished along with Ajit Pawar.
According to the NCP letter, the crash’s suspicious circumstances and significant anomalies necessitated a CBI investigation. In addition to irregularities in ATC communications and runway clearance sequencing, they include last-minute changes in flight crew composition that need examination of operational decision-making and authorization.
“Despite being close to the landing phase, there remains uncertainty over the operation of crucial onboard safety warning systems and the lack of any recorded distress signal. It is necessary to investigate the forensic assessments, which cover crew fitness and compliance maintenance. The central primary probe agency must conduct an impartial and reliable inquiry, according to the NCP letter.
