Odisha To Set Up AI & Blockchain Handloom Hubs In Cuttack, Bargarh & Jajpur

Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of the Works Department, presided over a high-level conference to explore the creation of textile parks and handloom hubs in the districts of Cuttack, Bargarh, and Jajpur. At a cost of Rs 13.51 crore, the committee authorized the establishment of an AI and blockchain-supported Handloom Hub on 2.77 acres in the Cuttack district’s Abhimanpur. To support the local handloom, handicraft, and terracotta industries, the hub will have administrative offices, a guest house, display stores, a weaving center, an exhibition space, and warehouses.

An estimated Rs 20 crore would be spent on the development of a Handloom & Textile Park on 9.35 acres in Gobindpur, Bargarh district. in a cost of Rs 27.57 crore, a Weaving Haat in Behera Balijuri would also be constructed on 29.12 acres with 2000 display bins, roads, parking, and food kiosks. At a cost of Rs 15 crore, a comparable AI and blockchain-supported Handloom Hub would be built on two acres in Gopalpur, Jajpur district, with an emphasis on silk sarees, clothing, and tourist marketing.

Commissioner and Secretary of the Handlooms, Textiles, and Handicrafts Department Guha Punam Tapas Kumar, Commissioner and Secretary of the Tourism Department Balwant Singh, Special Secretary of the Works Department Eng. L.K. Padhee, Additional Secretary Bikramaditya Barik, Additional Director (Silk) Surya Narayan Patnaik, and Deputy Director (Textiles) Ashutosh Mohanty were present at the meeting.
