Today at SAI International School, the 14th edition of SAI Model United Nations (SAIMUN) 2026 got underway, bringing together over 650 student delegates from 23 Indian schools and 14 nations to discuss urgent national and international concerns. British Deputy High Commissioner Dr. Andrew Fleming was a guest of honor during the opening ceremony. Dr. Silpi Sahoo, Chairperson of SAI International Education Group, welcomed the delegates and stated that SAIMUN exemplifies the mission of the organization’s founder, the late Dr. Bijaya Kumar Sahoo, to develop leaders who are compassionate and internationally sensitive.
He saw SAIMUN years ago as a platform where young people might lead with honesty and compassion and engage in meaningful dialogue. “Every edition strengthens our commitment to creating future-ready global citizens who value cooperation over conflict and communication over division,” she continued.Dr. Andrew Fleming emphasized the importance of youth-led diplomacy and encouraged students to embrace communication, compromise, and empathy. He remarked, “Platforms like SAIMUN remind us that young people who are willing to listen, debate, and lead with empathy hold the key to the future of international cooperation.”
A lively multicultural atmosphere is being created by the participation of delegates from Liberia, South Sudan, Uganda, Eswatini, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Libya, Madagascar, Syria, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and India. PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, DAV Public Schools, Pinegrove School Himachal Pradesh, Sunbeam School Varanasi, KIIT International School, ODM Public School, host SAI International School, and SAI International Residential School are among the twenty-three participating schools.
