“The Odisha Secondary Education (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2026” are new regulations that govern the hiring process and terms of employment for all government secondary school teachers. The State Cabinet approved their creation. “The Orissa Subordinate Education (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Services) Rules, 1993” will be superseded by the new regulations.
According to the School and Mass Education Department, the decision was made to address service irregularities in the current secondary teacher regulations, match recruitment requirements with modern standards, create a consistent State level cadre hierarchy, and grant State Cadre status to Hindi and Sanskrit teachers along with opportunities for advancement.
