Bhubaneswar | 25 October 2026

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, scheduled to inaugurate the RBI Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute near Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on 25 October 2026.

Odisha is set to mark a significant milestone in India’s digital infrastructure development as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) newly established Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute at Jatni, near Bhubaneswar, on Sunday, 25 October 2026.

The inauguration is scheduled for approximately 4:45 PM. The facility, developed at an estimated cost of ₹169 crore, is designed to strengthen the security, resilience and reliability of India’s financial infrastructure.

The development places Odisha at the centre of an important initiative to support the country’s increasingly digital banking and payments ecosystem.

A Major Boost to India’s Financial Infrastructure

The RBI’s new data centre has been designed to provide a secure, scalable and future-ready computing environment for the central bank and the broader financial sector.

The complex comprises four state-of-the-art data centres intended to support mission-critical payment and settlement systems, alongside other important RBI operations.

As digital financial transactions continue to expand, reliable computing infrastructure and robust cybersecurity systems have become increasingly important for maintaining uninterrupted financial services.

The facility is expected to strengthen operational continuity, data management and the resilience of critical banking systems.

Tier IV Certification Highlights Infrastructure Resilience

One of the project’s distinguishing features is its certification to the Uptime Institute’s Tier IV standard, an internationally recognised benchmark for data centre infrastructure resilience.

According to the government’s announcement, the facility is among the largest Tier IV-certified data centre installations in the global banking, financial services and insurance sector.

This certification reflects the infrastructure’s design for high availability and operational resilience, supporting systems that require exceptional reliability.

Cybersecurity Institute to Focus on AI and Quantum Computing

Alongside the data centre, the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate a dedicated Cybersecurity Training Institute.

The institute will support professional training, research and capacity building in cybersecurity and enterprise technologies across the financial sector.

Its focus areas will include artificial intelligence, quantum computing and other emerging technologies relevant to banking and financial services.

The initiative aims to strengthen technical expertise and help financial institutions prepare for evolving digital-security challenges.

Why Odisha Matters to India’s Digital Future

Located at Info Valley-II in Jatni, near Bhubaneswar, the RBI facility represents an important addition to Odisha’s technology infrastructure.

The development also highlights the growing importance of geographically distributed digital infrastructure in supporting critical financial operations.

For Odisha, the project adds a significant national-level financial technology institution to its expanding technology ecosystem.

Strengthening the Foundations of Digital India

India’s increasing reliance on digital payments, technology-enabled banking and interconnected financial systems has created a growing need for secure and resilient infrastructure.

The RBI’s new facility is expected to contribute to the reliability of digital financial services while supporting advanced research and cybersecurity preparedness.

With its inauguration scheduled for today, the project represents a significant step towards strengthening the technological foundations of India’s financial system.

The Interview Times will continue tracking developments surrounding the inauguration and the facility’s contribution to India’s digital financial ecosystem.
