BJD MLA Arabinda Dhali demands implementation of the CAA in Odisha

Jaydev MLA and Bengali refugee leader Arabinda Dhali has demanded the implementation of the Indian Citizenship Certificate Act (CAA) in Odisha. The central government has implemented the law in five districts of the country.

The legislator said the law needs to be implemented in Odisha. More than one million refugees are living in 10 districts of Odisha, namely Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Rayagada, Kendrapara, Khordha, Sambalpur, Baleswar, Bhadrak and Balangir districts. They are being deprived of various government schemes due to non-enforcement of citizenship laws. Landless people are not eligible for the Bashundhara scheme. Many do not have a passport.

The law is now in force in five districts of the country. It is also needed in Odisha. That is why the BJD MLA has requested the Chief Minister to take appropriate steps to implement the Citizenship Act in Odisha.
