In a shocking developement, the major airline company of India, Indigo has suspended few of its pilots. The pilots have been suspended on grounds of disciplinary actions.
In a statement, an IndiGo spokesperson said: “We confirm that a handful of IndiGo pilots have been suspended from duty for indulging in activities that are in contravention to the terms of their employment and in violation of the code of conduct of the company.” According to airline sources, the pilots in question wanted to stir up a protest against Covid-related pay cuts.
Indigo had recently announced its pay hike of 8 percent for its pilots. Moreover, they have also assured of more 6.5 per cent hike. However, it is still less than the payment they received before COVID. During COVID times, 28 percent pay cut was made for the pilots. Thereby, as per the reports the pilots wanted to have a protest.
