Locals in Jatni town, Khordha district, Odisha, are pressing for the flyover at Sitaram Chhak to be finished as soon as possible.
The flyover was planned to be finished by 2017, however the foundation stone was placed in 2015. But after seven years, commuters continue to face continuous traffic jams on the route from Sitaram Chhak to the Kudiari neighborhood in Jatni town as a result of the flyover’s construction delay.
Jatni Bikash Parishad activists, led by former MLA Bibhuti Bhusan Balabantaray, were furious about the construction work’s delay and met with the railway’s Khurdaroad Divisional Manager on Wednesday to urge that the flyover be finished as soon as possible.
“The construction work is being delayed as the Railways has not completed its work. So we demanded the Railway authority to complete the pending work soon,” said the former MLA.
Negligence of the Odisha government’s Works department has delayed the construction of the flyover, alleged Jr Routray. Notably, the Railways has to complete the 56-meter construction work of the 800-meter bridge.
