Among 12 public institutions in Odisha, a staggering 56.93% of teaching positions and 58.12% of non-teaching positions remain unfilled, according to Higher Education Minister Rohit Pujari. In response to a highlighted question from BJP legislator and Chief Whip of the Opposition Mohan Majhi in the Odisha Assembly, Minister Pujari said that 12 public institutions in the state had 181 out of 243 teaching positions and 1534 out of 2639 non-teaching positions that are unfilled.
Of of the 15 public institutions in the state, Khallikote University, Vikramdeb University, and Dharanidhar University have not received any professor, associate professor, or assistant professor positions, according to Pujari. He said that just seven members of the non-teaching staff—out of the sanctioned roles of six professors, twelve associate professors, and thirty-two assistant professors—at Madhusudan Law University have been filled (posts).
He said that no teaching or non-teaching positions have yet been created for the government-established universities Vikramdeb University, Dharanidhar University, and Khallikote Unitary University.
