Adarsh Gourav Nominated In Leading Actor Category For ‘The White Tiger’ In BAFTA 2021


‘The White Tiger’ actor Adarsh Gourav has been nominated in the Leading Actor category at the BAFTA Awards 2021 announced by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts which will be held on April 11.

This year there is a record-breaking number of female directors nominated for the BAFTA Award 2021 which was announced by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

Adarsh Gourav will compete with late actor Chadwick Boseman for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” and Anthony Hopkins for “The Father” in the Leading Actor category.

“The White Tiger” also received a nomination for Ramin Bahrani in the Best Adapted Screenplay category. The movie, an adaptation of Aravind Adiga’s Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name, marks the first lead role for Gourav, known for his appearance in “My Name is Khan”, “Mom” and Netflix series “Leila”.

Gourav’s Balram is the movie’s protagonist, who works as a driver for Ashok, a wealthy businessman, played by Rajkummar Rao. From being ridiculed by his employers for his underprivileged background and forcing him to take the fall for a crime he didn’t commit, the film charts Balram’s journey to becoming a successful entrepreneur. The film also stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Vijay Maurya.

Notable nominees include ones in the Leading Actress category for Radha Blank for “The Forty-Year-Old Version”, Maria Bakalova for “Borat Subsequent Film” and Dominique Fishback for “Judas And The Black Messiah”.

The veteran British actor Anthony Hopkins, Tahar Rahimare, Riz Ahmed, Mads Mikkelsen, and the late Chadwick Boseman are the other nominees.
