Adidas, the latest company to cut ties with Ye after he made ugly and anti-Semitic remarks, has ceased working with the rapper formerly known as Kanye West. The German sportswear brand claimed that this move would negatively affect its bottom line.
Adidas stated in a statement on Tuesday that it “does not condone anti-Semitism and any other type of hate speech.” Ye has recently made remarks and taken acts that are undesirable, dangerous, and against the company’s principles of inclusiveness, respect, and fairness.
Over the past few days, at least five organisations have cut ties with Ye. Ye had his access to Twitter and Instagram suspended earlier this month for making anti-Semitic comments, including one in which he threatened to “go death con 3 ON JEWISH PEOPLE.”
As a result of his remarks, Ye has said that he will purchase Parler, a social media platform similar to Twitter that has become a shelter for conservatives.Kanye West’s lawyer, Camille Vasquez, chose to dismiss him after the rapper escalated his antisemitic remarks.TMZ reports that Camille Vasquez specifically informed Brown Rudnick that she would not represent Kanye West unless he issued a public apology.
Along with his tirades against the Jewish community, Kim’s ex-husband also caused controversy by appearing with conservative political analyst Candace Owens at a surprise Yeezy Season 9 show in Paris while sporting a “White Lives Matter” T-shirt.The phrase, which was coined seven years ago in opposition to the civil rights organisation Black Lives Matter, has been labelled as white supremacist hate speech by the Anti-Defamation League and Southern Poverty Law Center.Following Ye’s remarks on Floyd’s passing on the podcast Drink Champs, the family of George Floyd declared on Tuesday that they will sue Ye for $250 million.
