AI Likely To impact 40% Of Jobs Globally: IMF

Kristalina Georgieva, the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has issued a dire warning regarding artificial intelligence (AI). The MD of the United Nations finance agency in Washington, D.C., highlighted the global threats AI poses to job security in an interview with AFP.

The Bulgarian economist said AI will influence 60% of jobs in industrialized economies, while it is projected to have smaller effect in developing countries. Roughly 40% of occupations worldwide are probably going to be affected. And the more you have more skilled occupations, stronger the impact,” Georgieva said, citing an IMF report.

“Your job may disappear altogether — not good — or artificial intelligence may enhance your job, so you actually will be more productive and your income level may go up,” Georgieva said before leaving for the annual World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
