Jio and Airtel continue to face fierce competition over 5G in the country. However, in this race, Airtel has overtaken RelianceJio. Airtel has become the first telecom operator to test 5G on commercial networks. Airtel has successfully tested 5G in Hyderabad. According to the company, the test is currently being performed using NSA network technology in a 1,800-megHz band.
This is the first time the company has used dynamic spectrum sharing, Airtel said. 5G and 4G can be operated simultaneously in this spectrum block. The test showed that Airtel’s 5G network was ready for all domains, including radio, core and transport.
The company said that during the test in Hyderabad, users could download the entire film in a matter of seconds on a 5G phone. In this test, the company tests the capabilities of its technology. Users will get 5G benefits when the company gets government approval and enough spectrum. There will be no need to switch SIM cards upwards if 5G network is available to users.
