BHUBANESWAR: Subhadra Yojana is a new welfare scheme launched by the Odisha government aimed at financially empowering women from economically weaker sections. Set to begin on September 17, 2024, it coincides with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, marking a significant day for the scheme’s beneficiaries.
Key Features:
1. Financial Assistance:
– Eligible women will receive Rs. 10,000 annually in two instalments of Rs. 5,000 each.
– The total amount over five years will be Rs. 50,000, directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
2. Launch Date:
– The scheme will officially begin on September 17, 2024 with the first installment disbursed on the same day.
– Over 10 lakh women will receive funds on the day of launch.
3. Target Beneficiaries:
– The scheme is expected to benefit over 1 crore women across Odisha.
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Age: Women aged between 21 to 60 years.
2. Economic Background:
– Women from economically weaker sections, particularly those covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) or State Food Security Scheme (SFSS), are eligible.
– Those without these cards but with a family income below Rs. 2.5 lakh per year may also qualify.
3. Bank Account and Aadhaar:
– Applicants must have an Aadhaar-linked bank account for the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Registration Process:
1. Start Date: Registration began on September 1, 2024.
2. Where to Apply:
– Applications can be submitted at Mo Seva Kendras, Anganwadi centres, or Block offices.
– Registration forms are available at these centers, ensuring accessibility to women in both urban and rural areas.
Disbursement of Funds:
1. First Instalment:
– On the launch day, over 10 lakh women will receive the first instalment of Rs. 5,000.
2. Subsequent Instalments:
– Funds will be credited twice a year—once on Raksha Bandhan and again on International Women’s Day (March 8).
Exclusions:
Women already receiving financial aid exceeding Rs. 18,000 annually, elected officials, income taxpayers, and state or central government employees are ineligible for this scheme.
