Jr NTR met Amit Shah in Hyderabad and expressed gratitude for his “kind words.” The union home minister referred to him as a “gem of our Telugu cinema.”Sharing the pictures, Amit Shah captioned the post, “Had a good interaction with a very talented actor and the gem of our Telugu cinema, Jr NTR in Hyderabad.” He also penned a note in Telugu and tagged the actor. Resharing the post on his Twitter account, Jr NTR wrote, “It was a pleasure meeting you and having a delightful interaction @AmitShah ji. Thanks for the kind words.”After his public meeting in Munugode, which is set to see a bye-election, Shah met the actor for about 15 minutes at the Novotel hotel in Hyderabad’s Shamshabad for dinner. Though the BJP claimed that the meeting was only to convey Amit Shah’s best wishes to Junior NTR for his latest film RRR, sources say the party is hoping that the meeting will generate positive publicity for the party.Though the Amit Shah-Junior NTR meeting is similar to Narendra Modi’s surprise visit to Rajinikanth’s house in Chennai in 2014, it is unknown whether Junior NTR has any political ambitions. Rajinikanth announced a political party as well, but later backed out. However, the veteran actor has been a vocal supporter of the BJP on a variety of issues. With Amit Shah meeting film producer and media tycoon Ramoji Rao (who is close to Chandrababu Naidu), there is speculation that the BJP’s stance toward the TDP may be softening.
