A public gathering in Sonepur, a western Odisha assembly constituency under the Balangir Lok Sabha seat, is expected to be addressed by senior BJP heavyweight and Union home minister Amit Shah on April 25. This comes days after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik declared he would run not only from his home district of Hinjili in the southern portion of the state, but also from Kantabanji, another assembly sector in western Odisha under the Balangir Lok Sabha seat.
A lot of people will be watching Shah’s planned public speech in the wake of the BJD and BJP’s failed alliance attempt last month. On March 22, both parties made the decision to run unopposed in all 147 state assembly seats and 21 Lok Sabha seats.
Even while BJP officials in the state have occasionally taken a harsh stance against the BJD, the senior leadership of the saffron party in New Delhi has not yet attacked Naveen.
“During Shah’s visit to Odisha, everyone will be watching his tone and duration.” Naveen and Narendra Modi get along well. Political analyst Debasis Das stated, “We have to see if BJP’s central leadership, including Shah, targets Naveen, especially after the failed alliance bid.”In an interview with a Delhi-based television channel on Friday, Shah implored the people of Odisha to allow the BJP to take office again. “Odisha members of our party were against forming an alliance with the BJD.
In order to defend Odia pride, identity, language, and culture, our workers wanted to fight alone. Under Narendra Modi’s direction, we implore the people of Odisha to provide the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a chance to lead the state toward prosperity,” Shah remarked. The state’s BJP leaders are looking forward to Shah’s arrival. “From Sonepur, Shahji will sound the poll bugle. The BJP has been defending the pride and identity of Odia people. Our employees’ morale would be raised by his presence, according to senior BJP leader Gopal Mohapatra.
Known as a BJP stronghold, Western Odisha is currently the center of attention in state politics as a result of the candidacies of powerful figures such as Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJD leader Pranab Prakash Das (both from the Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat), and Naveen himself from the Kantabanji assembly segment.
