The 40-year-old Anne Hathaway claimed to have given up alcohol in 2019 after driving her child to school while intoxicated. She remarked, “I didn’t love that one.”According to Anne Hathaway, she has been clean for more than five years. The performer stated in an interview with The New York Times that she made a commitment to abstain from alcohol until her sons, John, 4, and Jonathan, 8, are adults. Although she doesn’t discuss it much, Anne stated that she is proud of having been clean for more than five years. She views it as a “milestone.” “I feel that Forty is a blessing. In actuality, I’m hesitant to describe things as “middle age” because, well, I can be a stickler for semantics, plus I might get struck by a car later today.
In 2019, Anne Hathaway discussed beginning her sobriety on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “I’m going to give up drinking while my son resides with me. He’s getting to the age where he really does need me every morning, and I don’t always love the way I (drink)… I didn’t drive when I performed my one school run, but I was so drunk that it was sufficient for me. I dropped him off at school that day. That one wasn’t my favourite,” she had admitted.
“I didn’t put [a drink] down because my drinking was a problem; I put it down because the way I drink leads to hangovers and those were the problem,” she had said to Modern Luxury later in the year. The longest hangover I ever had was five days. I’ll start drinking again once I reach a point in my life where I have enough room to recover from a hangover, but not until my child moves out.”
