A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form around September 20, informed by the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar.
Through a tweet, the Regional Centre informed that an upper air cyclonic circulation is likely to form over North-west adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal (BoB) around September 18, 2022. Under its influence, the fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region in the subsequent 48 hours.
As per the forecast, the system is likely to trigger rainfall in several parts of south Odisha on September 18 and other parts of the state on September 19. The intensity of rainfall is also likely to increase on September 19, predicted the IMD. Heavy rainfall ( 7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri and Jagatsinghpur.
