Mohan Charan Majhi, the chief minister of Odisha, advocated for a thorough traffic management strategy for Bhubaneswar and Kataka, emphasizing flyovers, larger highways, intelligent traffic signals, and other ways to reduce traffic in the twin cities. Majhi chaired a high-level review conference at Lok Seva Bhawan, where he examined the twin cities’ traffic decongestion plan and demanded quick action to enhance both the two metropolitan centers’ general look and traffic flow.
The chief minister focused especially on enhancing and beautifying the highways that connect Kataka, Bhubaneswar, and the surrounding districts. He gave the appropriate departmental secretaries and officials instructions to fix important highways and poorly maintained traffic intersections right away. In order to provide more efficient traffic flow, Majhi further emphasized the necessity of building and expanding eight-lane highways at strategic areas. He demanded that steps be taken to ensure pilgrims and visitors passing through Bhubaneswar on their way from Kataka to Puri had easy access.
The development of key intersections, the building of flyovers and overbridges at strategic sites, the installation of CCTV cameras and smart traffic signal systems, and attempts to reduce unlawful parking were among the other initiatives to enhance traffic management that were considered at the conference. In order to enhance traffic infrastructure and make the twin cities cleaner, more organized, and safer for commuters, the chief minister ordered the Police Commissionerate, Urban Development Department, Works Department, and local administration to collaborate closely. Additionally, officials were advised to concentrate on enhancing traffic flow and connection on important routes connecting Bhubaneswar and Kataka, especially those with high vehicle traffic.
