Bhubaneswar: Veteran Bollywood actress, film director, and producer Asha Parekh is to be honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2020, informed Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Tuesday.
“Asha Parekh has been chosen for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. She has worked in more than 95 films. I want to congratulate her,” said Thakur.
Parekh was the highest paid actress of her time and was one of the most successful actresses of the 1960s and 1970s. She has given about half a dozen superhits in the period between 1969 and 1971, with films like “Pyar Ka Mausam”, “Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke”, “Aan Milo Sajana”, “Kati Patang”, “Mera Gaon Mera Desh”, “Caravan” and “Samaadhi”.
In 1992, she was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India for her contribution to the field of cinema.
