Baba Siddique Shot At From Close Range In Bullet-Proof Car

With the streetlights turned off and no CCTV cameras in the vicinity, the shooting incident involving NCP leader and former minister Baba Siddique happened on Saturday night near the Khetwadi Junction in Bandra. Based on the first details provided by the police, he was shot six times from two different handguns.Three of the bullets struck Baba Siddique in the chest, while one injured the companion in the automobile in the leg. The bullet penetrated the glass despite Baba Siddique’s automobile being bulletproof. According to police sources, this means that the assailants had to be carrying high-end handguns.

“Baba Siddiqui was shot at close range. Later, the three attackers, who had covered their faces with handkerchiefs, were running away when the mob caught two of them and handed them over to the police. At present, the forensic team of the police has reached the spot. Police recovered a pistol and bullet casings from the spot. The pistol found at the spot was of 9.9 mm detachable magazine of 13 rounds. This pistol is said to be a sophisticated and modern one,” the police sources added.

According to the police sources, the attack took place when Baba Siddique was leaving his son Zeeshan’s office. “Today was Vijayadashami, and processions of the goddess were passing through this area. So there was the sound of musical instruments and crackers in this area. It has come to light that the attackers took advantage of this and shot at Baba Siddique. After this incident, the supporters of Baba Siddique gathered outside the Lilavati Hospital,” sources said.

Senior Mumbai Police personnel have now arrived at the scene, and the probe has commenced. A few police units are looking into the event. Additionally, sources said that a fortnight prior, Baba Siddique had received a death threat. The cops then issued him with Y-security. Consequently, Baba Siddique was stationed with a police policeman. A large police presence has been positioned in the northwest Mumbai neighbourhood of Khetwadi Junction following the death of Baba Siddique. The area where Baba Siddique was shot at has been blocked off by the police.
