Becoming a Sporting Nation Is …..

A challenging concept, yet India is a nation that enjoys sports and has the backing of the right people. Sports make the world take notice of a nation like India, which is young, energetic and buoyed by the greatness of legends from the past.

How can a nation create history in sports? By owning medals in disciplines and preparing itself for the Olympics and the various meets that happen across the world. For a nation to be called one that places a premium on sport, it must relentlessly.

1. Ask the states and the centre to sponsor those who have great potential
2. Earmark funds that are used wisely for various disciplines
3. Develop infrastructure in collaboration with sponsors to increase a nation’s medal tally in sports
4. Be supportive of players through highs and lows, giving them hope to give their best
5. Develop year-long programs that look into multiple aspects of sports, i.e. mental health and holistic wellness

While athletes enjoy the support of national bodies, they need the right coaching and mentorship to ensure they bring laurels to the nation, without having to bother themselves about managing two square meals and their families.

With nearly 80 years of independence behind us, the Government’s push for gold and glory in sports is an important moment for sports players and full-time athletes across the country. If we can build upon our existing medal tally and laurels, we can become an unstoppable force in contact and mind sports.

We are an unstoppable force, and with the right mentorship, training and leadership, millions of sporting superstars can emerge from India!

Sports run within the veins of every Indian, and when each one knows their countrymen and women are supporting them, it will rain medals, plaques, trophies and glory for India!
