Before the third Twenty20 International against South Africa, Sunil Gavaskar endorses India’s growing star

Sunil Gavaskar had nothing but respect for the young talent on Team India. South Africa and India will play the third Twenty20 International in Johannesburg.During the T20I series against South Africa, renowned Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, who was batting for Rishabh Pant to be included in the ICC T20 World Cup squad, also praised one of India’s budding stars. In the second Twenty20 International between India and South Africa on Tuesday, the Proteas bowlers put the second-string Indian team’s batting ability to the test. In a match disrupted by rain at St George’s Park in Gqeberha, India defeated Pakistan 180-7 (in 19.3 overs) thanks to half-centuries from Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill both scored ducks in this match, but captain Suryakamar changed history by scoring 56 off just 36 balls. The Indian captain became the joint-quickest player for the 2007 champions to reach 2,000 T20I runs, matching Virat Kohli’s achievement. Rising talent Rinku, who scored his first-ever half-century in international cricket, provided support for top-ranked batsman Suryakumar. Legendary batsman Gavaskar also showered the young player with plaudits after his batting explosion elevated India to a formidable score.

“I believe you are aware of the fact that we have observed him improving while he plays outside. He hasn’t got the same opportunity as he has now, having several overs to use. He utilised it quite effectively.””Every shot in the book belongs to him. He’s capable of taking you off guard. As you can see over there, he has the ability to strike you with a lofted shot off the back foot. He has every shot in the book, both leg side and offside. It will boost his confidence tremendously to reach that first half-century because, once he gets going, it’s difficult to stop him from talking,” Gavaskar continued.
