Bengal Governor, following the arrest of TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan, sees “light at the end of the tunnel.”

TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh was apprehended on Thursday morning after going missing. He is charged with land grabbing and suspected sexual crimes in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal.The arrest of TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan was welcomed by West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Thursday, referring to it as “light at the end of the tunnel.” Sheikh Shahjahan was taken into custody this morning from the Bamanpukur locality at Minakhan in connection with the attack on ED officials last month. Sheikh Shahjahan is an accused in a case involving sexual violence and land grab in Sandeshkhali village in North 24 Paraganas district.

He was among the main defendants in the legal proceeding. Following the protests that occurred in Sandeshkhali earlier this month, a number of further complaints have been filed against him. Investigations are underway into those.
