Hundreds of workers of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) carried out a motorcycle rally as a mark of protest against price rise and unemployment.
According to the official reports, the protest was led by the party’s Organisational Secretary Pranab Prakash Das, Youth BJD General Secretary Pranab Balabantaray and Chhatra BJD president Devi Ranjan Tripathy, workers who shouted slogans against Centre.
The BJD demanded an immediate roll back in the rising prices of petrol, diesel, cooking gas, and other essential commodities which are having severe impact on the budget of lower and middle class households.
Pranab Prakash Das said “Centre has adopted a step-motherly attitude towards Odisha. We have 20 lakh MT paddy lying in Odisha, but it is not being lifted. The public is depressed with the rising prices. The protest will continue across the State if the Centre does not cut down prices of essential commodities.”
