250 dog kennels are set up by BMC, ready for the sterilization program to begin

The BMC is ready for the upcoming stray dog sterilization program in Bhubaneswar, which aims to reduce the number of stray dogs in the city without endangering anyone. The local government has established 250 dog kennels with all the necessities, including animal operating rooms. The BMC, according to commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange, is awaiting the High Court’s decision.

“The anti-birth control of the stray dogs has been halted by the High Court. We have filed a parawise comment with the high court and are awaiting a positive outcome. Scientifically, we have established more than 250 dog kennels in the Mancheswar region. The kennels provide food, water, and other necessities along with operation rooms for contraceptive methods. We’re ready to launch the anti-birth operation. We are currently awaiting the ruling of the High Court,” he continued. According to him, the kennel can sterilize up to 100 dogs in a single day.

Numerous dog bite cases and accidents have resulted from the problem of stray dogs. The number of dog bite cases that are reported every day in the smart city indicates that the dog threat has grown to a serious level. Every major and small artery, as well as locations like bus stops, train stations, stores, markets, and residential neighborhoods, are frequented by stray dogs.
