“Breaking the Innovation Glass Ceiling”

Priyadarshi ‘Nanu’ Pany

Back in 1998, Priyadarshi ‘Nanu’ Pany, an engineer by academic qualification and entrepreneur by passion and instincts started a humble enterprise- Cybertech Software Multimedia (later rechristened CSM Technologies) with a turnover of $1000.

Today, the tech start-up has blossomed into CMMi5 IT solutions and services organisation with a turnover climbing to $7 million and offering disruptive technologies and solutions that promise more and deliver many times over.

In glaring contrast to his counterparts in technology space, Pany has been the quiet, unobtrusive achiever who has let his performance do the talking. His understated approach to entrepreneurship and innovation has not taken an inch from CSM’s territory of work that straddles geographies and blurs borders.

With its forte in GovTech domain, CSM Technologies has been incessantly churning out new products and solutions with the concomitant focus on consolidating strengths in existing applications.

Some of the innovations emerging from the CSM stable have been phenomenal. Take, for instance, the i3MS or the Integrated Mines and Minerals Management System. It’s a solution that CMS designed a decade back for the Odisha steel & mines department.

It offers an end-to-end solution on mineral movement and tracking. All processes under this system are transparent and automated. Ever since this system has been onboarded, it had checkmated instances of illegal mining and ore pilferage, once the pain points for the state administration. Due to its immense success in delivery and implementation, i3MS has emerged as one of the scalable and most sought after models in mineral tracking.

CSM has prepared the roadmap for metamorphosing the Odisha Tourism portal. It offers a one-stop solution for an array of stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality sectors. Its success has been documented as an Adobe case study. More recently, the homebred IT services and consulting company has designed the Covid dashboard for the Odisha government.

Today’s customer is no longer satisfied with off-the-shelf solutions available. Acutely aware of this requirement, CSM develops applications by working alongside and providing the required domain consultation to reach a requirement that meets their desired level of personalization and ease-of-operation.

Its solutions ensure the immediate impact on the customer’s business process by adopting reiterative programming methodologies that can be implemented from any location across the globe. CSM’s belief in using DevOps procedures and practices significantly reduces not just the development of an application but also its implementation; all the time maintaining the quality standards.

Steered by Pany’s leadership and vision, CSM Technologies has bagged awards galore. For its Paddy Procurement Automation System (PPAS) 2.0, CSM won the Tech Sabha award 2020 in February this year in the ‘Best Enterprise Solution’ category. P-PAS 2.0 is an initiative of the Department of Food Supply & Consumer Welfare, which has been pedantically designed and developed by CSM Technologies

The application’s emphasis on authenticating farmer databases through integration with land records and prioritizing small & marginal farmers through its token system has earned it laurels from all quarters.

Pany himself was conferred with the prestigious Odisha Excellence Award for Leadership by Governor, Ganeshi Lal in December 2019. This award recognizes his inspiring journey as a rainmaker and thought leader to position Odisha successfully on the global IT landscape.

His grit & simplicity has steered a 700+ workforce strong team on a journey dotted with brave & innovative ICT solution breakthroughs recognized in national & international fora. This award recognizes a leader who is an inspiration for entrepreneurs and industrialists aiming to build sustainable and high impact businesses.
